Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how GRIT Digital Media LLC (“GRIT,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use Pitch Scout (the “Service”). Pitch Scout is an independent scouting workflow tool and is not affiliated with Major League Baseball.
1. Who we are
Controller: GRIT Digital Media LLC, Charlotte, North Carolina.
Privacy contact: privacy@gritdigitalmedia.com
2. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign up or sign in, our authentication provider (currently Clerk) may process identifiers such as your name, email address, authentication credentials, and account metadata. We use this to create and secure your account and to communicate with you about the Service.
Pitching profile and in-product preferences
If you create a pitching profile, we (or your browser) may store preferences you provide, such as:
- Minimum and maximum velocity
- Arm angle
- Pitching hand
- Pitch types you indicate that you throw
Today, some of this profile data may be stored in your browser’s local storage on your device. That means it may not sync across devices unless we later add cloud sync.
Usage and technical data
We may collect standard technical information such as IP address, device / browser type, pages viewed, approximate timestamps, and diagnostic logs needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service. We may use privacy-respecting analytics in the future; if we do, we will update this Policy.
Payment information (if you purchase)
If paid plans are offered, payment details are processed by a third-party payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
Information we do not sell
We do not sell your personal information. We also do not sell MLB Statcast datasets or game video libraries as a data product.
3. How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and secure the Service
- Apply your pitching profile and filters to organize scouting views
- Authenticate accounts and prevent abuse
- Respond to support requests
- Improve product performance and user experience
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Third-party services
We rely on third parties to operate the Service, which may include:
- Authentication (e.g., Clerk) for sign-in and account management
- Hosting (e.g., Vercel) to serve the application
- Public baseball data sources (e.g., MLB Stats API and Baseball Savant / Statcast endpoints) requested on demand to render charts and context. Those providers process requests under their own terms and may log technical request data on their systems.
- Video destinations when you open a pitch clip on a third-party site
We do not control third-party privacy practices. Review their policies when you leave Pitch Scout.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our auth/hosting providers may use cookies or local storage for sessions, security, and preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may limit sign-in or features.
6. How we share information
We may share information:
- With service providers who help us run the Service under contract
- If required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality
- With your direction or consent
7. Retention
We retain account and server logs only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law. Local profile data remains on your device until you clear it or use in-product clear controls.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the Service. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access or update account information
- Request deletion of account data we control
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Export a copy of certain personal data
To make a request, email privacy@gritdigitalmedia.com. We may need to verify your identity. You can also manage some auth profile details through your account provider’s user menu.
11. International users
The Service may be hosted in the United States. If you access it from elsewhere, you understand your information may be processed in the U.S., where laws may differ from those in your country.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, may provide additional notice in the Service.
